In a recent Gallup survey, only 43% of Americans aged 15 to 34 felt it was a favorable time to find a job locally, a significant decline from 75% in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This pessimism isn\u2019t entirely a reaction to the rise of AI (a change that even some software developers are concerned about), but journalist and tech commentator Brian Merchant suggested that for many students, AI has become \u201cthe harsh new face of hyper-scaling capitalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI too would express my discontent vocally at the notion of this next industrial revolution if I were in my early twenties, unemployed, and had aspirations for my future beyond inputting commands into an LLM,\u201d Merchant expressed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even when commencement speeches did not explicitly mention AI, \u201cresilience\u201d was a common theme this year.
