Anthropic started it, followed by Google. Now, the open-source AI company Reflection is collaborating with SpaceX for its plentiful supply of AI chips.<\/p>\n

Beginning July 1, 2026, Reflection AI will invest $150 million monthly through 2029 for immediate access to Nvidia\u2019s latest GB300 AI chips and the associated hardware at SpaceX\u2019s Colossus 2 data center located near Memphis, Tennessee, as reported to TechCrunch. This agreement totals up to $6.3 billion, with either party able to terminate the contract with a 90-day notice after the initial three months.<\/p>\n

This agreement is less substantial than the contracts SpaceX has with Anthropic and Google, which amount to $1.25 billion and $920 million per month, respectively. Those agreements also extend until July 2029, though Elon Musk has downplayed the three-year duration, stressing that the contracts can be ended at any point.<\/p>\n

Reflection has utilized this compute arrangement \u2014 its initial one \u2014 to emphasize the significance of its open-weight AI approach, marketed as an open-source alternative to restricted frontier labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI. Open-weight AI models, which disclose their trained parameters to the public, have garnered more focus after the U.S. government’s prohibition of Anthropic\u2019s closed frameworks, Fable and Mythos.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2024 by two ex-Google DeepMind researchers, the startup claims that this compute deal represents one of the largest publicly declared open AI infrastructure investments to date.<\/p>\n
