OpenAI currently supports plugins that link ChatGPT to common tools such as Slack, SharePoint, Airtable, and Google Drive, but the new plugin extensions will provide apps with a specific location in the ChatGPT sidebar.<\/p>\n

Moreover, developers will be able to create interactive panels that allow users to engage with their tools while communicating with ChatGPT. This experience can also incorporate file viewers that accommodate any file formats relevant to the developer’s product, as noted by the company.<\/p>\n

Additionally, OpenAI claims it is simplifying the plugin creation process for developers and enhancing the discovery experience for users. Developers will receive a new Plugin Creator tool for development and can submit their creations to the plugin directory via a revamped process that delivers more transparent feedback.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the company has refined how plugins are ranked and recommended within its directory, as well as their visibility during conversations. Users can also approve any access requirements of a plugin individually when they select one to use.<\/p>\n
