The opportunity is nearly gone. On August 19, eight startups will present at Stripe Tour Sydney before investors, international media, and the Australian tech ecosystem. One startup will secure automatic entry into TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco — no application required, no additional competition, a guaranteed spot on the world’s most renowned startup platform.
Only 48 hours remain to submit your application. Don’t delay.
Here’s what you need to know.
What is Stripe x Startup Battlefield?
Startup Battlefield is TechCrunch’s premier pitch competition — the one that propelled companies like Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello to success. Altogether, alumni of Startup Battlefield have amassed $32 billion in funding and achieved more than 250 exits across over 1,700 companies globally.
The Stripe x Startup Battlefield marks a unique collaboration with Stripe, bringing the competition to Sydney for just one night. Eight Australian startups will be chosen to pitch live. Three will receive awards. One will head to San Francisco.
Grand winner: $15,000 in Stripe fee credits + automatic entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt, San Francisco, October 13–15, 2026.
Second place: $5,000 in Stripe fee credits.
Third place: $2,000 in Stripe fee credits.
All applicants — regardless of whether they pitch or not — will be invited and registered to attend Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19.
What we seek — and what won’t disqualify you
We’re not searching for the slickest companies in Australia. We’re focused on the most promising ones. The key question we consider for every application is straightforward: Does this bring about a change? Not a minor adjustment — a real transformation.
Here are a few things that won’t disqualify you:
Some media exposure won’t hinder your chances. If your company has received local or industry attention but your core technology hasn’t yet made headlines, that’s precisely what this platform is meant for.
Customers are not a prerequisite. You should have a functioning MVP, but revenue and product launch are not mandatory.
You have applied previously. Numerous companies in Startup Battlefield submitted multiple applications before being chosen. A previous denial is not indicative of your company’s potential.
How to create a compelling application
Demonstrate your product in action. Not just a mockup. Not a pitch deck filled with screenshots. Your actual MVP, functioning live, on video — even if it’s not perfect. This is the most critical part of your application.
Be transparent about your competition. Identifying your competitors and explaining why you prevail gives us more insight into your market awareness than any TAM slide ever could.
Explain why you are the right choice. The origin story — what inspired you, why now is the moment, why you are suited to build this — is a significant factor in how we assess teams. Most founders underestimate this aspect. Don’t.
Avoid overcomplicating it. A straightforward, candid application showcasing a real product will surpass a polished one that obscures the company behind it.
The deadline is July 20. This is firm.
Applications will close on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AEST. No extensions will be provided. There is no waitlist. Once it closes, the only path to that stage is as an audience member.
If you are still contemplating whether to apply — do apply. The worst result is a stronger application for next time. The best result is a spot on stage in San Francisco in October.
The next company that no one has yet heard of is developing something significant. It could be yours.
