Coca-Cola halted operations at its Fairlife dairy following a ransomware incident.

The U.S. beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola announced that one of its dairy divisions has been compromised by a cyberattack, leading to a halt in its operations for the foreseeable future. The global corporation reported to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that its Fairlife dairy brand experienced a ransomware incident, impacting its production systems. The company indicated that Fairlife’s production activities across the United States are “temporarily halted.”

Fairlife’s operations in Canada remain unaffected.

Coca-Cola ranks among the largest corporations worldwide, with a product range that includes carbonated beverages, water, and dairy items. Fairlife dairy represents one of the company’s key brands, projected to achieve $4 billion in sales by 2024.

Ransomware incidents targeting food and beverage enterprises can lead to enduring repercussions. Previous attacks on Arizona Beverages in 2019 and on food distributor giant UNFI last year resulted in prolonged disruptions to their production operations and empty grocery shelves.

Coca-Cola has not specified when Fairlife’s systems will be back online.
