Pete Hegseth’s Strategy for ‘High T’ Soldiers Is an Illusory Fantasy of Pseudoscience

The Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has openly expressed his desire for a more formidable military.

He often criticizes the US Armed Forces for easing combat standards to permit the inclusion of women. He has taken part in photo ops where he exercises and lifts weights alongside soldiers. In his speeches, Hegseth proclaims that the Trump administration is bringing back a “warrior ethos” for its troops of “war fighters.”

Currently, he is advocating for a contentious initiative to guarantee that soldiers are as hardy as possible: testosterone testing and, for those with lower levels, optional hormone replacement therapy.

“Following advice from our exceptional medical team, war fighters aged 30 and over will be required to take annual tests as part of their health evaluations,” Hegseth mentioned in a video posted on his official X account on Wednesday. Those younger than 30 may also opt to take part in these evaluations, he noted.

“If recommended, it’s your choice to decide on testosterone replacement therapy,” Hegseth remarked.
